Anxiety Disorders can be described as having excessive worry, nervousness, or unease; typically, about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. It is an emotion characterized by an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, often accompanied by nervous behaviors (i.e., pacing, somatic complaints, ritualistic patterns, or ruminating thoughts). Symptoms of Anxiety can include: fear, panic, nightmares, flashbacks, obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, ritualistic behaviors, uneasiness, insomnia, excessive worry, feeling overwhelmed, shortness of breath, numbness, dizziness, heart palpitations, muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue and difficulty concentrating. There are several types of anxiety disorders which include: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and specific Phobias.
