Meltem Akbay, MA, LPC NCC

 Meltem (Mel) graduated from Oakland University with an MA in Counseling. Her areas of specialty include trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief and loss, and self-esteem. She works with children, teens, and parents, as well as adults, and has extensive cross-cultural experiences. She uses psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, play therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as mindfulness-based strategies and self-compassion techniques. Mel highly values the therapeutic relationship and believes that it is instrumental in the treatment process.
