David Trombly, MA, LLP

Under the direct supervision of Dustin Shepler, PhD, LP, HSP, CST

David earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wayne State University, a Master’s of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a Master’s of Science degree in Psychology from Oakland University with a social and personality concentration. Though Detroit Mercy has a psychodynamic focus, David’s therapeutic style is friendly and conversational in style. He integrates psychodynamics and solution-based, cognitive behavioral work to engage with his clients. This helps to grasp understanding of why something occurs and the roots of currently maintained issues to aid in their resolution. David also infuses his previous experiences with peer/life mentoring and coaching football in order to adapt to what clients need from their therapist, while keeping a strong rapport throughout treatment.

David primarily has experience with older adolescents and young adults, though he does have some experience with children as young as nine years old and older adults. David has a strong interest in sports and performance psychology, but is not limited to that particular practice area. His experiences and interests influence his thoughts — in order to obtain optimal performance and efficiency, the mind and the body need to be at their best. One way this is achieved is through physical exercise. In his opinion, exercise is vital to developing a healthy mind and body and does not only apply to athletes; everyone can benefit. David is ready and willing to work with anyone who feels that they might need help regaining daily life functioning skills, coping with anxiety and depression, social and professional development, weight-loss coaching, parental coaching, and any other issues that may arise as we work together.

David’s areas of specialization include:

·       Anxiety

·       Depression

·      Parental Coaching

·       Professional Development

·       Social Development

·       Sports Performance

·       Weight-Loss Coaching
